Happy New Year in Milan

We took the train to Milan for a brief, but welcome mini-vacation.
I was really amazed at how much Milan really is the "fashion capital of Europe." . . . hmm, not the place to be largely pregnant, but that's O.K.!
The streets were lined with interesting boutiques which made for as much fun window shopping as actually going in.

Inside the "Duomo" - the huge cathedral in Milan.
We walked so much around the city but I'm happy to report I didn't go into labor, although I was pretty tired by the end of the day.

Milan is especially well known for it's covered galleries . . . the earliest shopping mall! The floors are all tiled with intricate mosaics and most shops still had Christmas lights up, so it was a pretty sight.
Analise enjoyed the sidewalk musicians . . .

Having a coffee on the sidewalk

Walking the sidestreets to window shop at all of the high end boutiques -

Having dinner at the restaurant and Daniel is really enjoying playing with with a sticker book - I tried to get him back to his seat . . . even told him there was wine on the table . . . but no! He wanted to sit on the floor and play stickers. This also happened to be New Year's Eve and we weren't thinking we would really be celebrating, so we were happy to see that the hotel left us a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries - sweet! Then at midnight we were able to watch fireworks going off from different points in the city, so it didn't turn out too bad after all!
