Yvoire, Leysin and Aigle

I'm still playing a little catch-up from the Mueller's visit to Switzerland. We love having friends and family come stay at our place and enjoy sharing these amazing places together . . . (was that enough of a sales pitch to everyone?)

Andy and Jenn will appreciate the good weather we enjoyed in Yvoire - the little town across the lake in France. We ate on the rooftop terrace of a restaurant that overlooked the chateau, church spire and lake. It was so beautiful!
Yvoire has gained world-renown for it's flowers. The old part of the city is just covered with them! When the Johnsons were here it wasn't blooming yet, but this trip they were in full force.

Another day we drove to Leysin and then took the gondola up the mountain to have lunch at the revolving restaurant on top the hill. It's the same hill that we skiied at earlier this winter so it was fun to see the cows grazing on the slopes and people out hiking lots of different paths. We tried out the backpack the Muellers brought over and look forward to getting out for more hikes this summer. Behind us is Lake Geneva - but you can't really see it because it's kind of hazy.Too bad for the clouds because the views from this peak are really quite amazing . . .

It should be mentioned that Deb was quite a trooper for coming on the gondola ride at all! Once she saw what she was getting into all she said was, "I'm not really crazy about heights" - but she got on anyway!

On the way back we stopped in the village of Aigle (where we saw Flat Stanley's family Warrens) and toured a Chateau that is dedicated to the history of wine making. Very informative - but sadly, no free samples!Inside the courtyard of the chateau . . .

vineyards nestled right in the valleys of the mountains . . .
Ho, Ho, Ho Ho - saa - na; Ha, ha, ha - le - lu-jah; He - he - he - HE saved me, I've got the joy of the Lord! Sing along with dad while we wait for everyone else to finish up.
walking back to the car after the tour. The cobble stones made the stroller ride less than smooth but the little lady didn't seem to mind.
